Dyslexia Therapy

Certified. Personalized. Proven.

At Harmon School, all of our dyslexia tutors are CALP-certified (Certified Academic Language Practitioners) and trained in the Basic Language Skills (BLS) curriculum through the Neuhaus Education Center—a nationally recognized leader in evidence-based literacy instruction.

Every tutor is qualified to teach:

  • Basic Language Skills (BLS)

  • Reading Readiness, a foundational program for early learners

These structured, multisensory programs are backed by decades of research and aligned with the best practices in dyslexia remediation.

What to Expect

Your child will receive:

  • A personalized learning plan based on their current reading skills

  • One-on-one or small group sessions (online or in person)

  • Ongoing progress monitoring and parent updates

  • A supportive, patient tutor who understands how to teach students with dyslexia

We begin with an informal evaluation to determine your child’s starting point in the BLS sequence and tailor the program to their individual needs.

Reading Readiness

Reading Readiness is a daily instructional framework based on the tenets of structured literacy that explicitly and systematically teaches the foundational components of literacy that lead to skilled reading. Reading Readiness includes instruction in letter recognition and phonological awareness (the foundational components of sound-symbol correspondences, which is the basis of decoding) and oral language (the basis of language comprehension).

In Reading Readiness, participants learn:

1) The critical skills necessary to become fluent readers and accurate spellers;
2) Hands-on, multisensory activities to teach and reinforce these skills;
3) Strategies for building instant recognition of words with reliable and unexpected pronunciations; and
4) The importance of explicit and systematic handwriting instruction to spelling and writing.

  • By a knowledgeable and skilled specialist

  • With a monitored and modulated pace that is adjusted to meet student needs

In BLS, participants learn:
